Hägglund Viipuri Kollektiivi

agirlisagirlisagirlisasound

agirlisagirlisagirlisasound is a continuation of Hägglund Viipuri Collective’s two-week Sound Residency at TSC studio. In their demo, the collective presents their findings and work-in-progress, simultaneously examining the possible impacts of a live audience. The feminist and mainly auto-fictional performance examines body image and the experientiality of girlhood and womanhood. The materials created during their residency in July 2021 are based on the collective’s writing exercises, during which they studied their own experiences from the perspectives of girl and womanhood. Maija Viipuri has graduated from the Theatre Academy with a bachelor’s degree in dance, and Iida Hägglund is currently studying for a master’s degree in sound design at the University of the Arts Helsinki.

TSC residencies – applications for spring 2022 are open now!

TSC provides annually 2–4 working groups the opportunity for a residency at TSC Studio in Helsinki. The residencies’ objective is to serve as a platform for multidisciplinary experiments and to support especially freelance-based artists, hence aiming for the development of the dance field as a whole. One of the residencies each year is dedicated especially for work focusing on the relationship between sound and movement. The Sound Residencies are held in collaboration with Genelec, our partner behind the immersive sound system of TSC Studio. Hägglund Viipuri Collective was chosen for the first TSC Sound Residency in 2021. Applications process for the second Sound Residency starts in 2022.

The second open call for TSC’s movement based residencies is open now. Read more and apply before 21 October 2021!
