Hannu Vasara

Musician (Violin) – Helsinki Baroque Orchestra

Violinist Hannu Vasara’s most important teachers include Paavo Pohjola, Chaim Taub, Sirkka-Liisa Kaakinen and Kreeta-Maria Kentala. In addition, he has learned from masters such as Enrico Gatti, Enrico Onofri and Peter Sellars. Today, he performs early music in various groups including Finnish Baroque Orchestra and Helsinki Baroque Orchestra. He is also a founding member of the Doina Klezmer folk music ensemble.

Vasara joined the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1996, where he currently plays Principal Second Violin. He has appeared as a soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra, the Oulu City Orchestra and the Sibelius Strings. Vasara’s  collaboration with Tero Saarinen Company started in 2021 on the cast of Third Practice.
