Musician (Recorder) – Helsinki Baroque Orchestra
Julien Martin studied recorder throughout Europe at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Lyon, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and with Pedro Memelsdorff in Milan. He has toured Europe and North America with the Capriccio Stravagante Renaissance Orchestra since 2000, and has recorded many albums together with the group. In 2010 he founded the Ensemble Resonances with Marine Sablonnière. Martin regularly collaborates with baroque dancer Hubert Hazebroucq, with whom they’ve created a dance piece La flûte d’Arlequin (2018). He also performs regularly with Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon.
In addition to his more regular collaborations, he has performed with many other prominent names and groups in Europe. Martin teaches recorder and early music in the Conservatory of Music in Levallois-Perret, near Paris. His collaboration with TSC started in 2019, when Third Practice first premiered with the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra.
