Julien Martin

Musician (Recorder) – Helsinki Baroque Orchestra

Julien Martin studied recorder all over Europe, at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Lyon, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and with Pedro Memelsdorff in Milan. Since 2000, he has toured Europe and North America and recorded many albums with the Capriccio Stravagante Renaissance Orchestra. In 2010, he founded the Ensemble Resonances with Marine Sablonnière. Martin regularly collaborates with baroque dancer Hubert Hazebroucq, with whom he has created a dance piece La flûte d’Arlequin (2018). He also performs regularly with Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon.

In addition to his more regular collaborations, he has performed with many other prominent names and groups in Europe. Martin teaches recorder and early music at the Conservatory of Music in Levallois-Perret, near Paris. His collaboration with TSC started in 2019, when Third Practice first premiered with the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra.
