Agnès López-Río

Agnès López-Río is a Full Professor of Analysis and Practice of Contemporary Dance Repertoire at the Conservatorio Superior de Danza “María de Ávila” in Madrid, as well as a performer, artistic advisor, and dance researcher.

As a professional dancer, she has performed with the Ballet Company of the Städtische Theater Chemnitz (Germany), Introdans (Netherlands), Staatstheater Braunschweig (Germany), and Wayne McGregor/Random Dance Company (UK), where she took part in the creation and international tours of landmark works such as Entity, Dyad, and FAR. During this period, she also participated in innovative research projects on dance, technology, and cognition with institutions including the University of Cambridge and the University of California, San Diego.

In 2011, she joined the Compañía Nacional de Danza performing works by renowned choreographers such as Mats Ek, Jiří Kylián, Johan Inger, Ohad Naharin, and William Forsythe, among others. At the company she also created her own choreographies.

As an educator, she has contributed to the CND’s educational project and has been invited to teach and lecture at institutions such as the Shanghai Conservatory, Montpellier Festival, Universidad Europea de Madrid, Universitat de València, and Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Since 2016, she has collaborated closely with the collective Kor’sia, both as a performer and artistic advisor.

She is also active in cultural management, having contributed for example to EU projects in the field of dance and health.
