Jordi Carrasco Hjelm is a Swedish double bass player working with chamber music and free improvisation. He lives in the Netherlands where he is a core member of the contemporary music group Het Muziek as well as the touring string orchestra O/modernt, a resident ensemble in the Wigmore Hall in London.
As a passionate advocate for free improvisation on stages for classical music and for chamber music as an inherently improvisational form, he has performed in many European chamber music festivals, most notable as a regular guest at Musikdorf Ernen in Switzerland. He has played with musicians from a wide range of genres such as Maria Wloszczowska, Abel Celacoe, Johannes Geworkian Hellman, Nora Thiele and Reto Bieri.
In 2026 Jordi looks forward to the release of the album Milestone 21 (Signum Records) where O/modernt explores music by Miles Davis, Josquin des Prez and Igor Stravinsky together with Nils Landgren and Gwilym Simcock.
