Fabiana Piccioli trained and performed as a dancer, before joining Akram Khan Company as a Technical Director and Lighting Designer in 2005.
In 2013, she started working as a freelance lighting and set designer, collaborating with international artists such as Romeo Castellucci, Katie Mitchell, Guy Cassiers, Lisaboa Houbrechts, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Damien Jalet, Barbara Hannigan. Her work has been staged at Paris Opera Ballet, English National Ballet, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Royal Opera House, Comédie Française, and Teatro alla Scala, amongst others.
She has won the Knight of Illumination Award; twice for dance and once for opera.
Piccioli and Sander Loonen work together through their joint company ARP Theatre.
