Jenna Broas is a dance artist and choreographer based in Porvoo and Helsinki. Her work engages with the imagination of the body, materials, spatial choreography, and writing. At the core of Jenna’s artistic practice are explorations of temporality and inner landscapes, the physicality of the dancer’s body, and a playful inquiry into the space between the abstract and the recognizable. She holds an MA in Dance Performance from the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki (2017), and a BA from the London Contemporary Dance School at The Place (2014).
Jenna’s artistic practice is closely connected to an ongoing collaboration with spatial and video artist Fabian Nyberg, as part of the artist duo Broas & Nyberg. Her works have been presented at Zodiak – Center for New Dance, Teater Viirus, Helsinki Music Centre, Hällä Stage, Vibeke Foundation Gallery (BE), as well as at Reflektor and FLASH light art festivals. As a performer, she has worked with choreographers including Tero Saarinen (FI), Jenni-Elina von Bagh (FI), Sara Gurevitsch (FI), Anders Duckworth (UK/SV), Joanna Kalm (ES), Carolyn Deby (UK), and Petri Kekoni (FI). Jenna began working at TSC as a trainee on MESH in 2016, becoming a visiting dancer in 2018.
