Sofia Ruija

Dancer

Sofia Ruija is a graduate of the Ballet School of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet. After graduating in 2021 she has been working as a freelancer with choreographers such as Tero Saarinen, Reija Wäre, Cõmpania Kaari & Roni Martin, Johanna Nuutinen, Riku Lehtopolku and an immersive theatre collective 00100ENSEMBLE. Ruija has performed in various dance and art events such as Helsinki Festival, Kuopio Dance Festival, Art museum Amos Rex’s Generation 2020 exhibition, Pro Dance Gala, UMK 2022 (Contest for New Music by the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE), opening gala of Dance House Helsinki and, the Emma Gaala (Finnish music awards) and the Snow Queen ice ballet.

Ruija has also created her own choreographies e.g. for national TV productions. Her choreography for the Finnish National Ballet Competition won the first prize in 2022.
