Marco Goecke

Marco Goecke has developed his own distinctive dance language – he choreographs primarily for the upper body, for arms and hands, to which he has opened up new expressive possibilities. Goecke has worked with many prestigious companies worldwide including Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, the Norwegian National Ballet, the Pacific Northwest Ballet Seattle and the Staatsballett Berlin. Minimalistic in décor and costumes, between nervous dynamism and sudden lyricism, his highly musical choreography explores the hidden inner world. Goecke was a resident choreographer of the Stuttgart Ballet and the Scapino Ballet in Rotterdam, and he has worked regularly for Nederlands Dans Theater since 2013. His works have garnered wide international acclaim and have won numerous awards. Goecke was Gauthier Dance Artist in Residence from 2019 to 2023. He headed the Staatsballett Hannover from 2019 until February 2023. In 2022 he received the German Dance Award.
