Hofesh Shechter is regarded as one of the most exciting contemporary choreographers. The choreographer depicts aggression, chaos and the longing for freedom, often set to hard rock rhythms composed by himself. After making his career debut as the member of the renowned Batsheva Dance Company, Shecter worked with choreographers Wim Vandekeybus, Paul Selwyn-Norton, Tero Saarinen and Inbal Pinto. After moving to England, his meteoric rise in London’s diverse dance scene saw him create pieces such as Uprising and Political Mother, which have made him famous all over the world. He founded the Hofesh Shechter Company in 2008.

Shechter has also staged and choreographed works on leading international dance companies including the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Batsheva Ensemble, Candoco Dance Company, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet and Nederlands Dans Theater 1. Since 2021 he also is artist in residence of Gauthier Dance.
