Helsinki Premiere Postponed to March 2021

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the performances of Third Practice at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet’s Almi Hall are being rescheduled to 2–6 March, 2021. The collaboration of Tero Saarinen Company and Helsinki Baroque Orchestra stars twelve dancers, tenor Topi Lehtipuu, plus virtual soprano Núria Rial. Its intended Helsinki premiere season was to take place on 10–17 June, 2020.

Third Practice premiered at the Monteverdi Festival in Cremona, Italy, in 2019. Ticket sales for the work’s much-awaited home season in Helsinki were suspended in response to a Finnish Government ruling on 22 April. All ticket-holders are requested to contact the Finnish National Opera’s Customer Service by the end of May. New tickets for performances rescheduled to March 2021 can be bought and reserved starting 7 August, 2020.

It’s regrettable that viewers in our home city will have to wait until next year, but postponing the performances was absolutely the right thing to do under the circumstances,” says TSC Managing Director Iiris Autio.

The safety of our audiences and our international working group, of course, comes first. The Helsinki premiere of Third Practice will be a fabulous way to start our 25th anniversary year!” says the work’s choreographer and TSC’s Artistic Director Tero Saarinen.

The New Performance Schedule for Helsinki is:

Tue, 2 March at 19:30
Wed, 3 March at 19:30
Thu, 4 March at 19:30
Fri, 5 March at 19:30
Sat, 6 March at 14:30 and 19:30

Ticket sales for spring 2021 performances start on 7 August, 2020 at oopperabaletti.fi

All ticket-holders of the cancelled June 2020 performances can transfer their tickets to their chosen performance in March 2021, request a full refund for the tickets, or choose to support Tero Saarinen Company by not using their right to a transfer or refund.

Requests to transfer or refund tickets should be made by 31 May, 2020, by contacting the Finnish National Opera’s Customer Service by e-mail (liput@opera.fi) or phone (+358 (0)9 4030 2211).
