Johanna Nuutinen’s Hz (Hertz) is a deep dive into soundwaves, in which underwater sound pollution acts as a metaphor for the sensory stimuli of the modern world. Interpreted by five brilliant dancers the work takes its audience to a zone where hearing becomes experiencing. Nuutinen’s Hz is the first piece commissioned for TSC by another choreographer.
Read moreTero Saarinen’s HUNT, influenced by the duality of life and the transience of corporeality, was commissioned by the Venice Biennale in 2002. The work, praised by audiences and critics alike, was labelled one of the most significant contemporary reinterpretations of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. Saarinen toured with the work for over 10 years until the end of 2013, in a total of 83 cities and 32 countries. Now, Saarinen is passing on his technically and expressionally demanding solo to two new dancers: Auri Ahola (31.3.–5.4.), known as an extremely charismatic interpreter and Atte Kilpinen (6.4–9.4.), who has a top-flight career in ballet internationally.
